Enjoying Tea Big Red Robe Oolong

Description (from enjoyingtea.com): Da Hung Pao (Big Red Robe), also known as the Emperor of Tea, is a lightly fermented oolong. It originated from wild rare tea plants that were found growing on the cliff of Wuyi Mountain. Da Hung Pao yields a golden yellow liquid that produces a pleasant long lasting aftertaste. This tea is also renowned for its nourishing medicinal properties. It is said that a high-ranking official of the king fell sick and the imperial doctors could not treat him. Monks from the Fujian province heard of this and brought tea leaves from the Wuyi Mountain. The tea restored the officer to health. As a measure of his thanks he gave his red robe to the monks since the monks did not want any money. This is how the tea earned the name Da Hung Pao, meaning big red robe.

Review: No, no, no. This tea is not good. It tasted old, damp, a bit reminiscent of moth balls and dated paintings that despite their dates are still of little value. This is a great example of Enjoying Teas' oolongs: this tea is generally a decent-tasting blend, but because of the aging and/or improper storage, this tea is terrible.

I can't see anyone liking this, but I am an oolong snob, so I could be wrong. I will probably use this in tea trades just to see if anyone else enjoys it, but I will never drink it again. The taste itself isn't bad, it just tastes old. It has no delicate flavor: it tastes like mud. Oolong tea mud. It's about the same quality as the oversteeped crap they dole out in Chinese restaurants.

The Good: Big Red Robe isn't a bad blend generally, but THIS one is
The Bad: see above
