A Treat for Greenies

I've found a better use for Stash's Iced Green Tea Powder than actually adding it to water and drinking it. I've found that this tea is ok, but for a tea snob it's less than great. I'd rather brew my own fruit oolong or Ceylon tea and add ice to it than drink this stuff.

However, the best thing to do with this green tea powder is to mix it into vanilla bean ice cream (I use the unsweetened, but I'm assuming the others would work...though I wouldn't venture to mix the mint with vanilla ice cream!) Anyway, make a milkshake, sprinkle it over vanilla (or whatever kind of ice cream, I guess, though I prefer it with Turkey Hill's light vanilla bean).

I discovered the deliciousness of matcha + vanilla ice cream thanks to Boston's Super 88 Market and its wonderful little frozen green tea crumpet things. My friend, who recently sent me REAL Japanese matcha, mentioned that she also sprinkles the powder on her ice cream, so for those of you who have not discovered this delicious combination yet, give it a shot! (I know this is a big "DUH!" to many of you fellow tea snobs.)

Here are some other green tea recipes I've found...lattes, pudding and so forth. And though Stash's green tea powder is far from the best matcha of all time, I do respect them for spreading the word. Enjoy!
